Web Design & SEO for Monmouth County Businesses

Monmouth County is a county of small businesses. The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns for 2023 count 19,883 business establishments in the county, and 18,996 of them employ fewer than 50 people. That is about 29 small establishments for every 1,000 of the county’s 651,035 residents (2025 estimate). Most of the businesses here are owner-run, and the owner is usually the one who has to decide what to do about the website.

What digital marketing looks like for Monmouth County businesses

The industry mix is what shapes the marketing work. Of the 21 New Jersey counties in the same data set, Monmouth has the second-highest count, after Bergen, in three categories that live or die on local search:

  • Health care practices (NAICS 621): 2,257 establishments: physicians, dentists, chiropractors, physical therapists and other outpatient practices.
  • Specialty trade contractors (NAICS 238): 1,290 establishments: roofers, electricians, plumbers, HVAC, painters and flooring crews.
  • Personal services (NAICS 812): 1,053 establishments: salons, spas, fitness, pet care and similar.

It also has 2,553 professional services firms (NAICS 541: accountants, lawyers, engineers, consultants) and 410 repair and maintenance businesses (NAICS 811). Together those five groups make up 7,563 establishments.

Each group searches differently. A dental office in Holmdel competes for “dentist near me” inside a few miles. A roofer working out of Howell covers the Route 9 corridor and half the shore, so it needs a Google Business Profile set up as a service-area business, not a pin on a map. A salon in Red Bank or a fitness studio in Asbury Park sees searches and hours questions change with the summer season, when the shore towns fill up. A law firm near the courthouse in Freehold is judged by its website before anyone calls.

The search results are also more crowded here than in some neighboring counties. When we ran one test search for “web design Monmouth County NJ” in October 2026, three of the nine results pointed to one established local web design firm, and the rest were mostly directories and agencies based elsewhere. So a Monmouth County business owner has local options already. Our answer to that is not to claim we are local in a way we are not. It is to be specific about what you get each month and to show it in a report.

Every AJD service, one team

You do not need four vendors for your website, search and reporting. AJD handles all of it, and each piece is planned with the others:

  • Website Development: WordPress and Elementor sites built mobile-first, with clear service pages, fast load times and booking and call paths where visitors need them.
  • Website Maintenance & Care Plans: safe updates, daily off-site backups, security scans, uptime monitoring and a monthly report of the work done.
  • Search Engine Optimization: technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, schema, content structure and internal linking, built into the site rather than added later.
  • Google Business Profile & Local SEO: setup and verification, categories and service areas, posts, a review request and reply process, and recovery for suspended or duplicate profiles.
  • Social Media & Content: service pages, local answers and posts written for the questions your customers ask.
  • Analytics & Reporting: GA4 and Search Console set up correctly, with calls, forms and bookings tracked as conversions.
  • Business Consultation & Marketing: a plain-English review of what the numbers say and what to do next.

Problems Monmouth County businesses bring us

These are the problems we see most often in the kinds of businesses that make up Monmouth’s economy. Each one is something we fix, then keep fixed.

“Our hours and photos on Google are wrong every summer.” Shore businesses change hours between seasons, and a Google Business Profile that still shows winter hours in July costs calls. We update hours and seasonal information on the profile, post when something changes, and make sure the website says the same thing.

“We cover all of Monmouth, but Google only shows us near our yard.” Contractors and home service businesses often have a profile set up as a storefront, or with a service area that does not match where they actually work. We set the profile up as a service-area business, hide the home address, list the towns you actually serve, and back it up with service pages on the website.

“The site looks fine on a laptop and falls apart on a phone.” Many local searches happen on phones. Older sites built for desktop load slowly on mobile, and the call button sits below the fold. We rebuild or repair the pages so the phone number, the booking link and the service list appear first.

“We paid for a website two years ago and nobody has touched it since.” WordPress, themes and plugins update constantly. A site that is never updated breaks, gets hacked or slows down. Our care plans handle updates, backups and security every month, and you get a report that says what was done.

“We don’t know if any of this is working.” Many practices and firms have GA4 installed but nothing set up as a conversion, or tracking that counts every visit twice. We fix the setup so calls, form submissions and bookings are counted, and then report on those, not on vanity traffic.

“Our practice name is the only thing we rank for.” Health care and professional service sites often have one page that lists every service. We build one page per service, write it for the questions patients and clients ask, and add the schema markup that helps Google understand it.

How an engagement works

Every engagement follows the same four steps, whether it starts with a new site or with one problem.

  1. Discover. A free discovery call. We review your goals, your current website, your Google Business Profile, your search visibility and the businesses you compete with in your part of the county.
  2. Plan. We put the highest-impact work in order: what to fix first, what to build, what to track, and what it costs. Final scope and pricing are confirmed here, in writing, before work starts.
  3. Build or fix. We build the new site, repair the existing one, clean up the profile or fix the tracking, with clear updates as we go.
  4. Care and measure. After launch, the care plan keeps the site updated, backed up and monitored, and we report on calls, forms, bookings and search performance so the next decision is based on data.

Our work for New Jersey businesses

We work with New Jersey businesses, and we do not have a client in Monmouth County yet. Our closest work is in Somerset County, where most of our New Jersey clients are, and the businesses there look a lot like Monmouth’s health care and personal service businesses:

  • A wellness practice in Somerset County.
  • A counseling practice in Somerset County.
  • A nutrition practice in Somerset County that also sees clients by telehealth.

The work those practices need (clear service pages, an accurate Google Business Profile, a site that stays updated, and reporting that shows where calls come from) is the same work a Monmouth County practice or service business needs. You can read more on our case studies page.

The county splits roughly into the shore towns along the coast, the river towns around Red Bank and Rumson, and the inland towns along the Route 9 and Route 34 corridors, such as Matawan, Marlboro, Manalapan, Freehold and Howell. A business serving several of those areas usually needs a service-area Google Business Profile and a website that names the towns it covers on real service pages, which is what we set up.

FAQ

Monmouth County FAQ

Straight answers to what Monmouth County business owners ask us most.

No. AJD is based in New Jersey and works with businesses across the state and nationwide. Discovery calls, reviews and reporting meetings happen by phone or video. Most messages get a reply within 24 hours.

Yes. On a care plan or a monthly Google Business Profile plan, we update seasonal hours, post about seasonal services or events, and keep the website’s hours and contact information consistent with the profile, so shore visitors and year-round customers see the same correct information.

If customers do not come to your location, usually not. Google lets service-area businesses hide the address and list the areas they serve instead. We set that up, list the towns you actually work in, and build matching service pages on your website.

Care plans cover WordPress, theme and plugin updates, daily off-site backups, security and malware scans, uptime and performance monitoring. Plans with reporting include a monthly summary of the work done plus a review of your GA4 and Search Console data, with practical next steps. Final scope is confirmed during the discovery call.

A starter website typically takes 2–3 weeks. Larger or e-commerce builds generally take 4–6 weeks. You get a timeline after the discovery call, before any work starts.

You should compare options. What we offer is one team for the website, the Google Business Profile, SEO and reporting, and a monthly report that shows what was done and what it produced in calls, forms and bookings. The discovery call is free, and you get practical advice from it whether you work with us or not.
